SCOPE: - 

 

Rust-o-pick is a mild acid based de-rusting compound suitable for the cleaning of iron andSteel surfaces Prior to phosphating. Rust-o-pick is an immersion type acidic de-rusting solution. Rust-o-Pick controls the Excessive etching action. Rust o-pick will dissolve onlyOxides and clean the surface. So that surface will be Free form oxides and loose particle and hence adhesion of phosphate and paint coat will improve. 

 

PROCESS:  - 

 

The process of de-rusting consists of immersion of articles at room temp. In de-rusting Bath for 20-30 Minutes for heavy-duty application more temp. Is required.

 

APPLICATION: - 

 

The articles to be cleaned by rust-o-pick solution be free from oil grease dirt etc. degreaseArticles are Thoroughly water rinsed to remove the loose particles of oil And grease etc. The de-rusting tank must be Made S.S or coated with acid resisting Coating. 

 

CONTROL AND REPLENISHMENT 

 

The Rust-o-pick bath is generally prepared by adding Rust-o-pick at the rate of 30 Litters for Every 70 Litters of water in the bath. To determine the strength of Rust o pick bath take 1 ml. Of bath Solution in A pipette and make up to 50 ml. with water in volumetric flacks. Titrate with 0.1 N Sodium hydroxide Solution using Bromophenol Blue indicator. A fresh bath will have point age of 12-15 .The both should be Maintained within 12 to 15 Points. Add 21 litters of Rust-o-pick for each point less than 12 in a 1000 litters

 

Precaution: -

 

 Rust-o-pick contains some acids and should handled with care. Use rubber gloves and and goggles. Wash With plenty of water if Rust-o-pick comes into contact with skin and eyes.
